What makes Hospicare Flexible the right hospital plan for your company?
The beauty of Hospicare Flexible is in its flexible design. It’s up to you to decide what’s covered, based on your budget and staff member needs. And even the base version comes with extensive coverage.
In today’s competitive labour market, hospitalisation insurance can be just the differentiating factor you need to bring in new recruits and keep them happy for the long-haul.
A hospital plan is one of the most highly prized fringe benefits. It’s also a clever way to sweeten a reward package, as any funds that you invest in a hospital plan deliver a higher net take-home value to your staff than a pay raise or a bonus. Not to mention that the premiums you pay are exempt from social security contributions.
Hospicare Flexible is available to companies with at least 15 staff members.
What exactly is covered?
Four extensive covers provide your staff members with peace of mind, the security of knowing that they’ll be protected from the potential financial burden of a hospital stay, whether in Belgium or further afield. With supplementary covers, you design a solution that meets your company’s specific needs, and with your choice of deductible, you keep your budget under control.
As an inpatient or a day-case
Hospicare covers the following expenses:
inpatient room and board in a single-occupancy room
doctors’ fees, diagnostic examinations, treatment and medication
prosthetics and orthopaedic devices:
- with legal reimbursement: 100%
- without legal reimbursement: 100% up to EUR 5,000 per insured per year
home births (flat rate compensation of EUR 620)
emergency transportation to the hospital or transfers between two hospitals
Pre-admission and post-discharge outpatient care
Through your corporate plan, the cost of
medical care directly related to the reason for hospital admission will be covered for
1 month prior to admission and 3 months after discharge.
doctors’ fees (general practitioner, specialist, etc.)
paramedical treatment (physiotherapist, orthopaedist, etc.)
nurse-administered treatment and in-home care
prosthetics and orthopaedic devices
Your staff members no longer need to
keep track of pharmacy receipts or send them in to claim a refund. Instead, all they have to do is hand their
My Healthcare Card to the pharmacist for scanning. The itemised receipts will be forwarded to AG Insurance electronically, and your staff will get their money back even faster than ever.
Your staff members will be entitled to year-round coverage for critical illness-related medical care, valid for
30 critical illnesses including cancer and diabetes. Even if no hospital stay is required.
Assistance while travelling abroad
With Hospicare Flexible, your staff members get the same extensive coverage all over the world, whether in Belgium or further afield. They’re also entitled to additional assistance services including repatriation if necessary. In addition, all hospital bills will be settled with the hospital directly (third-party payer agreement), with no advance payment required.
Flexibility by design
Looking to provide even more features and benefits? Try our additional protection and services, all based on your budget and staff member needs. It’s up to you to decide what you offer on top of the basics:
You determine whether your staff members pay nothing at all or a small share towards their inpatient costs. Or you select a variable deductible: in this case, your staff will only have to pay a small percentage out of pocket if they opt for a stay in a single-occupancy room. And you get charged a lower premium.
The refunds for pre-admission and post-discharge care
You can opt to double the outpatient coverage period from one to two months before the hospital admission, and from three to six months after discharge.
Medi-Assistance third-party payer agreement
The concept is simple: your staff members report the hospital admission, ideally in advance, and AG Insurance settles the hospital bill with the hospital directly. Your staff members will never have to pay out of their own pocket at any time during their inpatient stay – not even a cash advance – and they’ll have the security of knowing immediately that their claim has been approved.
Not to mention that Medi-Assistance also entitles them to additional services prior to admission and after discharge. No small detail these days, as more and more patients convalesce in their own homes. These services include:
- during a hospital stay :
transportation to/from the hospital
- after a hospital stay :
transportation to/from the hospital
- psychological counselling year-round, even if unrelated to a hospital stay
"Luxury" hospitalisation insurance
If your plan includes Delta coverage, you’ll be providing your staff with extra protection for even greater peace of mind, making your hospital plan – and your company – an even more compelling proposition. Delta covers every possible need your staff members could have, including extended coverage before and after a hospital stay, palliative care, fertility treatments, etc.
Protect your staff members all year round
On top of a comprehensive hospital plan, outpatient care coverage is a handy way to provide an extra layer of protection. With this coverage, your staff members will be able to claim back their medical expenses year-round, even outside the confines of an inpatient stay. This includes, for example, doctors’ appointments, dental care, physiotherapy, medical imaging, etc.
When and where are your staff members covered?
No medical questionnaires required. Once your staff members enrol in the plan, their coverage will be effective immediately, with no waiting period to serve.
Hospicare Flexible goes beyond the confines of Belgium. Your staff members will be entitled to unlimited, worldwide coverage for medical expenses incurred in a foreign country.

With the My Healthcare Card, claiming a refund for prescription medication before or after a hospital stay or to treat a critical illness is as easy as child’s play. Receipts for pharmacy purchases are automatically forwarded to AG Insurance for refund.
